The Shelter Isle Apartments, once located at 444 W Duarte Rd in Arcadia California, were built by Hollywood choreographers Madge and Gower Champion in 1960. This really was one of the great tiki themed apartment complexes of the Cpop era. In 1991, I was fortunate enough to live there for nearly a year. Unfortunately, a few years later, it was leveled to make way for a gaggle of utterly ordinary townhomes.
